INTRODUCTION

Isla Stewart and RealCare recognise that discrimination is unacceptable. Equality of opportunity is a feature of practices and procedures and both Isla Stewart and RealCare operate a formal equal opportunities policy.  

1. The aim of the policy is to ensure that agency workers are not discriminated against either directly or indirectly on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.  

2. Isla Stewart & RealCare will ensure that the policy will be made available for all agency workers and made known to all applicants for work.

3. The policy will be communicated to all clients reminding them of their responsibilities towards equality of opportunity.


4. Whilst RealCare has no direct control over your place of work, it will endeavour to ensure that a neutral working environment is maintained, in which no agency worker feels under threat or intimidated.

RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION

Isla Stewart & RealCare will:

  1. Through appropriate training, aim to ensure staff will not discriminate consciously or unconsciously, when making recruitment & assignment decisions;


  1. Undertake a consistent and non-discriminatory approach will be taken to advertising Shifts;


  1. Ensure all applicants who apply for work receives fair treatment and will be considered solely on their ability to do the work.


  1. Ensure interview questions are related to Shift requirements and are not discriminatory;


  1. Review recruitment, selection and assignment processes by RealCare to ensure that they are related to work requirements and do not unlawfully discriminate and that recruitment decisions will not be influenced by any perceived prejudices of RealCare staff.


  1. RealCare will not disqualify any worker because he/she is unable to complete an application form unassisted unless personal completion of the form is a valid test of the standard of English required for the safe and effective performance of the type of Shifts being sought.
